MSc Students

Alleviate Consulting Limited attended the Construction Summit Conference which was hosted by Manchester Chamber of Commerce as both an exhibitor and a delegate. As an exhibitor, it is critical you work the floor and maximise the opportunity to promote your services or products to the delegates attending. We are an experienced organisation and made several contacts on the day, not least one of the sponsors of the conference, the University of Salford who were particularly interested in Collaborative Working.

Collaborative Working is one of the seven services we offer and as a practitioner for ICW we talked about BS11000, which is the first world standard for Collaborative Working. We exchanged contact details and followed this up with a meeting which resulted in Alleviate Consulting Limited presenting to a number of MSc students on Collaborative Working. We have over 40 years experience in the Construction industry, however, BS11000 applies across and Sector for any size organization. BS11000 is about the full life cycle of a working relationship between two or more organisations, to help you manage and mitigate risk. We provided a background to how Collaborative Working has evolved over the years to become BS11000, with an insight into the world of Construction. We covered six key points out of the course module which was critical for the MSc students, bringing collaborative working alive.

* Relationships impact every aspect of business operations

* Collaboration may occur as individual one-to-one partnerships

* It may involve multiple parties working together such as external alliance partners, suppliers, internal divisions and customers

* An organisation must therefore take a structured approach to partnering

* Confident that the relationship will complement and enhance existing business activities

* You should use your knowledge of collaborative relationships to discuss how to resolve conflict

Collaborative Working is critical in today’s Construction sector and all major clients are demanding BS11000 as a basis to Collaborative Working. We pioneered the first programme of Cultural change, incorporating Supply Chain integration through Collaborative Working over 20 years ago for the Highways Agency. Our work won industry recognition as we created a Community across 22 different organisations winning Client of the Year and the Long Term Partnering Award. We also prided ourselves in having no contractual letters in 10 years on the framework as well as identifying in excess of £23 million savings.

We would be very happy to provide support to any organisation looking to work collaboratively and we specialise in taking the written word off the page and bringing it alive in your business. Our practical experience gives us a unique position to create the long term, sustainable solutions for your business in today’s world.
